The video that has already sparked riots all across the Muslim World has been blocked by YouTube (Google) from being accessed in India, Libya, Saudi Arabia and Egypt whereas other countries including Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sudan have blocked the website YouTube as a part of protest to remove the blasphemous content from its servers.
Violence triggered by the video has already caused death of dozens of people and destruction of public property amounting to billions of rupees.
In his public statement Eric further said “We obviously do not endorse the use of the video or these ideas… hatred or violence or anything, but we openly believe that the best answer to it is more speech, not the other way around,”.
In a separate instance, Google’s head of operation in Brazil Fabio Jose Silva Coelho was detained by federal police on Wednesday for denying court’s order of removing certain videos that are defaming a local mayoral candidate, reported Yahoo. Another court in Brazil, after the speech of Brazilian President at UN General Assembly, had ordered to block the access of “Innocence of Muslims” in the country on the grounds that it was causing the religious violence.
Both the orders resulted in a temporary detention of Google’s local Executive who was released later on a promise to attend the court hearings.
