Warid & Bank Alfalah ink Agreement with National Bank of Pakistan for the Collaboration in building the National Payment Ecosystem

Warid Telecom and Bank Alfalah Limited (BAFL) signed an agreement with National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) in order to jointly develop the digital financial ecosystem in the country. This new venture was marked with a graceful signing ceremony in Lahore, which was attended by Mr. Mudassir H. Khan – SEVP/Group Chief CRBG of NBP, Mr. Suhail Jan Chief Commercial Officer –Warid , Mr. Khurram Hussain – Group Head Retail (C &N) and Consumer Banking and Mr. Azfar Jamal – EVP/Head of Remote Banking & ADC - NBP amongst other senior officials from all the three entities.

This initiative is a major step to develop the required Digital Financial Services to be hosted by National Bank that will include P2G & G2P, thus enabling customers to perform transactions through National Bank Accounts using the Digital Wallets, digital channels of Bank Alfalah and the Mobile Paisa wallets & distribution network.

Warid launches BIMA; an affordable insurance service for every family

Warid Telecom, has launched a new low-cost accidental insurance service called BIMA, which provides Warid customers with an easy way to protect the financial future of their families for as little as Rs. 30 per month. Warid’s BIMA product has already paid out its first claim, giving the family of a tragically deceased customer PKR 300,000.

BIMA has been designed in partnership with MILVIK, a leading provider of mobile-delivered insurance and health services, and the innovative insurance company, Alfalah Insurance. Warid has introduced this option for customers so that they can access the security that comes with insurance through an affordable and convenient mechanism. BIMA is available in four tiers: the most affordable Silver plan starts at only Rs. 30 per month and the maximum cover on the Diamond plan is PKR 1,500,000. Warid’s BIMA is available to prepaid customers who simply need to SMS “BIMA” to 9878 (at no charge) after which a MILVIK agent will call them within one working day to discuss payment plans and options. By the end of October, BIMA product will also be available for postpaid customers.

iPhone 6S and 6S Plus to be Officially Sold in Pakistan from Mid November



Ufone is all set to put iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, the most advanced iPhones yet, on sale for its customers beginning Friday, November 13th, 2015, we have learned from sources.

While we don’t have any details on the pricing of iPhone 6S and 6S plus as of yet, but we can tell you that more details will be officially communicated on November 6th, 2015 when Ufone will start accepting pre-orders. Other operators will start similar offerings, but we don’t have official confirmations from them so far.

Apple had partnered with local telecom players last year to introduce its iPhones in Pakistan, officially, and to continue the tradition iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will be put on shelves this year again. Not to be mentioned iPhones sold through telecom operators come with official warranties and better prices than open market. These officially sold phones will be factory unlocked.

Currently the base models (with 16GB memory) of iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are being sold at around Rs. 80K and Rs. 100K or above. It is yet to be seen how are telcos going to price these phones, but from the track-record we can confirm that prices from all operators will be the same, except for the voice and data deals that they may offer to iPhone buyers.
