ZONG has extended the timings of its popular location based services (LBC) to 24 hours instead of 180 minutes that it had set few months back after this service got famous among ZONG customers.
ZONG was the first company to have introduced location based service back in January 2010. Initially it was launched from Lahore whereby ZONG customers from Lahore could call to any number on the network across Pakistan for unlimited minutes by paying only a limited amount of subscription fee on monthly basis.
Following the success of ZONG LBC services, it was also adopted by other cellular operators in Pakistan but it was really proved fruitful for the pioneer ZONG that crossed Warid Telecom to grab number 4 position in September 2011 pushing Warid to number 5 position because of the popularity of its Location Based Services.
Earlier this service was limited to Lahore, Karachi and Faisalabad but now it is available over 100 cities across Pakistan.
It is yet to see how beneficial it would be for ZONG by extending the duration of LBC hours to 24 hours.
