Wateen Telecom has completed the availability of 126 Wi-Fi Hotspot in 22 government educational institutes of Punjab using the indoor Customer Premises Equipment (CPE). Further 109 Wi-Fi Hotspots are being deployed using the outdoor CPEs where indoor signals are not according to Wateen standards.Wateen is deploying these Wi-Fi hotspots after an agreement with Punjab Government for the promotion of online education system in the colleges and universities of the province. Wateen is also in process to start the e-learning portal that will assist graduate and post graduate students in having easy access to important educational information including text books, past papers, solved past papers and tips for students on preparing for examinations.
This combination of hotspots and e-portal will make a vital source of information for the students of Punjab. To make things more productive, the service is free for students.
Wateen hopes that its educational related activities will help build the sector which already facing scarcity of resources.
