HUTIC in 2011
The prime objectives of HUTIC were technology transfer between the two countries and bridging the gap between the industry and academia in Pakistan. HUTIC is focused towards development of the graduate talent and enrichment of the professional exposure to experimentation. The objectives of centre are to acquaint the students with Huawei’s high-tech equipment and, to prepare them to embark upon the challenges of the flourishing telecom industry, thus achieving the final goal of industry-academia collaboration. This centre is being administered by Al-Khwarizmi Institute of Computer Sciences (Al-KICS), UET Lahore.
To fulfill these objectives the centre provides trainings and experimentation facilities on the network. In 2006, HUTIC initiated trainings on Huawei’s BTS312 and BSC32. In 2008, these trainings were extended to Huawei’s BTS3012, BSC6000, HLR9820 and MSoftX3000. In 2011, two new courses were introduced which include Huawei’s GSM Radio Network Optimization (RNO) and training for Huawei’s Certified Datacom Associate certification. HUTIC has trained mark 3,500 students and professionals on the telecom and datacom equipment by June-2011.
The trainees include local and foreign graduate and undergrad students from prestigious engineering institutes from all provinces of Pakistan such as COMSATS Sahiwal, Abbotabad and Lahore campus, FAST Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad campus, UET Lahore, Taxila and Kala Shah Kaku campus, University of Lahore, Superior University Lahore, University of Central Punjab Lohore, Gomal University DIKhan, City University Peshawar, University of Science and Technology Bannu, Iqra University Islamabad and Karachi campus, NUST School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS) , Beaconhouse National University, Jamshoro University Karachi, Shah Abdul Latif University Karachi and Hajvery University Lahore, to name just a few. HUTIC also provides training and experimentation facilities to the professionals from telecom & media communications industry.
