Q Mobile and Voice Mobile are the two known brands in Pakistan which have started giving Android based cheap touch phones in the local market. Q is offering A2 and A5 whereas Voice is selling V850 and V900. Surprisingly both are not marketing them on TV media, maybe it is their first attempt in the Android domain and products are not that fine as per their expectations, so they are just testing the response in this first phase. Certainly, next stage would be to bring better smartphones within same price range.
Until then, we have what they are offering at the moment. Due to cut throat competition, prices are almost similar. QMobile A2 is for Rs. 8,900 whereas A5 is for Rs. 10,500, similarly, Voice V850 is for Rs. 8,400 and V900 is being sold at Rs. 11,500.
Let’s see a little comparison at the end of this post. The specifications are almost same, all four of them are having Android OS but doesn’t mean that they will work like any other middle end Android smartphone like Galaxy Y, Pocket or Explorer.
We did a little survey and found out that customer who have bought the phone are not happy with the browsing speed and memory related issues especially while they are playing games or download applications from Google Market. Even, many of them reported that Google Market app does not display all the applications as it does on Samsung and HTC phones. Another thing which is important, all the feedback that we are getting is from the customers who are entering into the world of Android and touch phones. They are not experienced users and most of them haven’t used the higher or middle end smartphones but they try to compare these phones with the brands which are already established and have done lots of R&D.
Customer needs to understand this before buying any of them that these phones are the first ones from companies like Q and Voice. In this price range, they will continue to have lower internal memory and small processors. Since we don’t have 3G in Pakistan yet and these phones are also not 3G supported as well, therefore, the performance will remain slow no matter what unless these companies start investing on R&D and bring some better phones even if they are higher in price.
